The US Corps of Engineers have restricted public access to The Canyon Lake Spillway Canyon created by the spillway discharge from the Flood of 2002. Shifting earth and unstable conditions still exist in The Spillway Canyon and public trespassing will not be allowed, in fact, trespassing can result in fines and arrest...so don't go there!!!
You are invited to relax and take an incredible pictorial journey through The Spillway Canyon with Tom Hornseth, Comal County Engineer as he surveys the area in preparation to rebuild the South Access Road. These photos were taken on 9/26/2002 on a descending trip from the Spillway down to South Access Road and the amazing ascent back to the top.
