Online GIS Help

New Updates to GIS users!

We have recently updated the configuration of our online GIS. This will better help Comal County manage the information that is presented to, as well as increase the functionality for, the user.

Some of the more noticeable changes are the addition of the Query tool and the Snapshot tool, as well as the modification of the Print tool. The Query tool will allow you to search for features based on their attributes. The Snapshot tool will allow you to quickly obtain a desired digital map image that can be used for saving to your hard drive, attaching to an e-mail, or other digital uses. The modified Print tool now gives you the ability to print in large formats, and get higher resolution map images. These, along with the other tools, are explained in detail in our new help section.

Expanded Help Section now online!

The new online GIS help section explains the use and functionality of the different tools as well as other features of the viewer. There are examples and screen shots, as well as answers to some of the more frequently asked questions.

Along with updating some of the functionality, we’ve also added some new datasets. Some of the updates include new floodplain information from FEMA (effective September 2, 2009), address and lot numbers, a complete coverage of USGS topographic images, and new aerial imagery for 2009.

Aerial Photography Update!

Our aerial imagery collection now includes 5 years of images that you can switch through to observe changes. Listed below is a description of each of the aerial imagery:
